Great Atlantic scallop

The scallop (Pecten maximus) is one of the most typical shellfish in Galicia, its shell being the symbol of pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.
Also called Galician or European scallop. It is a bivalve mollusk related to clams and oysters. It belongs to the family Pectinidae, order Ostreoida.
