Solid, oval shell with symmetrical valves, with very fine concentric sculptures close together. Hinge with three teeth. Pallial sinus without reaching the center of the valve. Edge of the valves smooth. Very variable coloration, generally brown or grey, profusely decorated with dark zigzag lines and white spots; some “albino” individuals, with a brown streak; light yellow inside. Up to 4 cm in length.
