Black Scabbard
The most striking feature is the head, extremely large, broad and flattened -except for Sladenia with a rounded head-; they have well-developed teeth, with the lower jaw and sides of the head flanked by small flaps or tabs; the maximum length described is 1.2 m.
On their mouths they carry a movable structure in the shape of a fishing rod, which they wave like a flag simulating a small prey.
Behind the head they have two small fins. The back is greenish brown, almost black; the belly is white and yellowish.
