Grooved razor sharp
It has an elongated rectangular shell up to 22 cm long, with symmetrical valves, bluish-white in color, with a brownish peristracum on the margins.
It lives on slightly muddy sandy beaches. It is a very common species in the northeast of the Atlantic Ocean, from Norway to Morocco and the Macaronesian islands (Canary Islands and Madeira), passing through the North Sea, the Bay of Biscay, the Cantabrian Sea and the Atlantic coasts of the Iberian Peninsula, and in the Mediterranean Sea. It is especially abundant along the Galician coast, where it is commercially exploited in the Finisterre area.
